Dear 4^th Grade Families,

Hello and welcome to 4^th grade! My name is Katy Nelson; I will be the long-term substitute for Mrs. Bergstrom for the time being. I am so excited to get started and get to know all of you as we grow together!

This will be my 7^th year teaching, I taught 3^rd grade for six years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am thrilled to be here at CVE and in Seneca Valley School District. Your students are going to learn so much this year. They will expand their reading and writing skills to new texts, learn exciting new math content and build on what they did last year in 3^rd grade, and we will explore the worlds of science and social studies together.

I do not anticipate any behavior problems this year, but if such problems do arise, they will be handled with respect and grace. I am a firm believer in open communication as we work together to best serve your child and provide the best possible education we can. If there are any problems or concerns on your end, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to help resolve them. Email is the best primary mode of communication, mine is nelsonkm@svsd.net. If a phone call is necessary, we can set that up as well.

Thank you for entrusting us at CVE with the care and education of your child. With your support I know we will have a fabulous start to the year and be well prepared for Mrs. Bergstrom’s return. Let’s get started!
